Fund a programme.
Build the evidence.
Aralar seeks project-development and pilot support for experiential education, youth wellbeing and our relationship with the living world.
The proposition
Two entry points.
Support City Lab Donostia or co-develop the international Mendien Ahotsa university programme.
City Lab Donostia
Fund preparation and delivery of a city route with climate-refuge invitations, participant reflection and evaluation.
Status: proposal designed February–September 2026. Implementation and institutional commitments to be agreed.
View the designed pilot →Mendien Ahotsa
Support access to mountain learning, academic and community coordination, and comparative research development.
Status: ongoing project; university programme in development. Five universities have expressed interest.
View the international project →What a funded pilot would deliver
A practical programme.
Accountable learning.
The funding agreement would define scope, costs, responsibilities and milestones.
- A place-based programme and participant materials.
- An access and engagement plan, especially for young people.
- A research and evaluation plan agreed with suitable partners.
- A report on participation, delivery, costs, findings and limitations.
- A decision on whether and how to adapt the programme elsewhere.
Benefits to investigate include learning, belonging, wellbeing and participation in care for place. Ecological outcomes require locally defined action and separate measurement.
SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT / PROPOSED CONTRIBUTIONSLocal programmes.
Shared global priorities.
Our proposed programmes connect with the UN Agenda 2030: wellbeing, inclusive learning, accessible living cities and care for ecosystems.
These are programme-design links. Contributions must be assessed through agreed project indicators; Aralar has not demonstrated SDG impact.
SDG 3Health & wellbeing
Explore wellbeing and belonging, especially for young people. Agree appropriate measures with research partners.
SDG 4 · Target 4.7Education for sustainability
Learn through field experience, cultural knowledge and encounters with ecosystems. Evaluate learning and participation.
SDG 11 · Target 11.7Inclusive public spaces
Design accessible invitations in public green spaces and climate-refuge areas. Study who can participate and what barriers remain.
SDGs 13 & 15Climate & living ecosystems
Connect climate learning and Nature-Based Solutions with local ecological priorities. Assess environmental results separately from participant reflections.
SDG 17Partnerships that learn together
Define university, community and institutional roles; share delivery lessons across places.
Framework: UN Agenda 2030 · Education · Sustainable cities
The next decision
Prepare a costed pilot together.
Aralar is seeking partners to define the budget, delivery conditions and evaluation responsibilities.
The assessment framework is not yet validated. Funding eligibility, geographic fit and partner commitments must be assessed for each opportunity.

We are looking for institutions, researchers and funding partners who want to help turn this approach into delivered programmes and credible evidence.
INSTITUTIONSHost a pollination space.
Shape it around your place.
Co-design the local programme, connect participants and communities, and agree implementation responsibilities.
What you gain: a programme designed around your place and documented learning for future decisions.
Discuss a hosting role →UNIVERSITIES & RESEARCHERSHelp lead
the research.
Define study questions, test the assessment framework, develop evaluation and explore comparative field learning.
What you gain: an opportunity to shape research and student learning in real-world settings.
Discuss academic collaboration →FUNDERS & DEVELOPMENT PARTNERSEnable delivery.
Build the evidence.
Support project preparation, equitable participation and evaluation. Help establish a costed plan and accountable milestones.
What you gain: a defined opportunity to support public benefit and receive transparent reporting.
Discuss funding & development → Roles, governance, budgets and research agreements would be defined together before delivery. Expressions of interest are welcome.
